I've Realized I Have a Type
Jul 07, 2026
Evelyn here! The other morning I was watering one of my pothos plants and found myself wondering why it brings me so much joy (and it really does).
This particular pothos has a unique quality. Where leaves are supposed to grow, it has sent out branch-like arms —long vines and unexpected offshoots reaching in every direction. It's wonderfully unusual looking and it wears its history on its plant sleeves.
As I stood there admiring it, I realized something.
I've developed a bit of a type.
Not in people, but in the things that capture my attention.
In the spirit of that realization, here are four things I've been mildly obsessed with lately—and why.

There is something that connects these things. They have layers. They are not easy to categorize. They are unexpected. Maybe it's the Libra in me, but their yin/yang natures also create a sense of balance and beauty.
Before I teamed up with Brook, I had been 'behind the scenes' in the beauty industry and marketing and had seen (and been disappointed by) the insides of many, many formulas. I searched for ancient and under-used botanicals, but I had never considered what would be our signature pairing of ancient botanicals and modern actives. Different elements that support multiple aspects of skin health at once.
So, aside from how obviously amazing she is, that is probably one of the reasons that I was drawn to Brook's creative mind in formulation. Because our skin, how we mature... these things are not just one thing. And really good skincare isn't a single ingredient.
Maybe that's why these current obsessions make so much sense to me.
What are you obsessed with?
